LW Puppis / LW Pup
Light curve and phase diagram of the EA/GS type eclipsing binary LW Puppis / LW Pup. These were constructed from photometry of 236 images taken with the Open University COAST telescope (a 14 inch / 35cm Schmidt-Cassegrain between 2017 October 2 and 2021 May 3 and then a 17 inch / 42cm corrected Dall-Kirkham between 2021 October 3 and 2023 April 14), using a V filter.
An enlargement of the phase diagram around the primary minimum is below.
This is consistent with a true minimum - there are no data points at maximum to conflict with it - and suggests that the minimum has a duration of no more than the approximately 1.2 days as listed by the AAVSO. However, more data points would be useful in supporting this conclusion. There is little evidence in the above data of - or space for - a secondary minimum. As ever, more observations required.
The catalogue periods for this star are 59.349d (GCVS, AAVSO VSX). There is little recorded o-c activity for this star (Kreiner), but it appears to be not well observed. (Accessed 2023 July 14.)
