V1177 Cassiopeiae / V1177 Cas
The following light curve and phase diagrams were constructed from photometry of 203 images taken with the Open University COAST telescopes between 2018 November 4 and 2023 April 14 using a V filter.
This under observed star is catalogued as an EA type eclipsing binary with a period of 105 days (GCVS and AAVSO VSX accessed 2023 May 29). The following phase diagram is plotted with this period.
This suggests that 105 days is not the correct period. The period used to plot the following phase diagram, 102 days, is the 'best fit' period to this data as determined by Peranso/ANOVA.
An expanded view of the primary minimum follows. More data points are needed to get a more accurate shape of this minimum.
The data point at phase 0.48 might be related to a secondary minimum, which the GCVS details, but more observations are required to confirm or refute this. (It will be narrower than the primary minimum in order to be consistent with the other points in the phase diagram around this phase.)
This system remains in my observing program. [The COAST system is currently out of commission (as of 2023 May 29) due to a technical fault, with no indication when this situation will be rectified.]
